| A Catalog is something supplied by a business to
advertise their wares, and possibly their prices and
specials. A Internet Catalog is pretty much the same
thing. It allows clients, business or consumer, to browse
a catalog and create orders offline. It will be based on
XML, and may contain HTML and Image files. Typically the
Internet Catalog will be compressed into a single file,
and downloaded or emailed between client and business. The advantage of the Internet Catalog is that you can build in logic into it, such as bulk discounts and other business logic specific to that supplier. The order can be created and the price calculated offline. Automatic price comparisions also may be possible. Businesses will be able to keep customers up to date with the latest catelogs automatically. |
