Odyssey Email - The Client

Odyssey Email is the name of the email client which is currently in development. The first release of a beta should be ready by May. Its primary feature improvements over Outlook Express will be 'invisible' encryption - so easy to use you don't know you are, and the ability to send and receive invoices and orders.

The source code is already available via CVS, and the project is always looking for developers to aid in the development of this and other technologies in the project.

Lightweight XML System

Frustration in finding a lightweight, easy to use XML parser over several months lead me to write my own 'paser', which is now part of the IDTrans project. The lightweight parser allows easy writing and access to XML documents without heavyweight object models such as DOM, but retaining the random access features of DOM. The source for this is currently in CVS.

Open Source License Available

The License that will be used for all source code developed for the project is now available. The license is not the GPL as this would have had implications for working with the commercial developers that the project intended to work with. Instead the license allows unrestricted copy and modification.

ComputerWorld on the Project

ComputerWorld recently ran a story about the project. Feedback from the article has been very good, and I hope to build on this success. I am now talking with several companies about joining the project. Profax Accounting has already joined, and will no doubt be looking to incorporate the project code into Profax next year.
